Dual Shock PS4 Console

Hi Everyone! It’s a special day at PlayStation, and I hope all of you had a chance to watch the livestream of PlayStation Meeting 2013 in New York, where we just unveiled PlayStation 4. One of the most exciting components of our next-generation platform is DUALSHOCK 4, the new wireless controller that combines with PlayStation 4 to deliver new gameplay experiences that have never been possible before.

I’d like to give you a tour of DUALSHOCK 4 and the features that will provide game developers the freedom to create brand new experiences that previously were limited to their imaginations.

Design

DUALSHOCK 4 adopts the familiar form factor of the DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller with some key enhancements:
  • Motion control is enabled by a new highly sensitive six-axis sensor
  • Dual analog sticks fine-tuned for better precision plus improved surface materials and shape for more delicate manipulation
  • L2/R2 buttons on the top of the controller employ a curved design for easier, smoother interaction
  • A new “Options” button combines the functions of the DUALSHOCK 3’s “Select” and “Start” buttons for operating in-game menus

New Ways to Play, Share and Connect

In addition to these features that build on the controls that you already know, DUALSHOCK 4 offers new features that enable new ways to play, a key part of the PS4 experience. One of the biggest innovations we’ve designed centers on the deep social interactions that will surround all games on PS4.
DUALSHOCK 4

The “Share” button allows you to easily broadcast your gameplay in real-time through streaming sites such as Ustream, where fellow gamers can comment and even join your game in new ways. For example, if you’re stuck in a difficult level, your friends can offer health potions or special weapons that you can use during gameplay. You can also instantly upload images or video to Facebook by pressing the “Share” button. As both a developer and a gamer, I’m personally excited about the opportunity to get help from friends when facing a challenge, and I can’t wait to see what my friends are playing in real time along with videos of their favorite in-game moments.
On the front side of DUALSHOCK 4 is a light bar with LED that illuminate in various colors to match the color of the character in a game as a simple way to identify players. The colors can also provide useful information to players, such as when their character has taken damage during a game. DUALSHOCK 4 was developed alongside a second peripheral, a dual camera which can sense the depth of the environment in front of it and also track the 3D location of the controller via its light bar. The new camera incorporates four microphones capable of accurate sound detection and source origination, and it will support the PlayStation Move motion controller with more precision than ever before.

DUALSHOCK 4 also has a touchpad at the front of the controller as a new input method, offering more ways to interact with games. Additionally there’s a built-in speaker and headset jack to deliver high-fidelity sound effects from the games. A headset will be bundled with PS4, enabling gamers to chat with friends during online gaming and to hear sound effects from the controller.
There’s a lot built into DUALSHOCK 4, and the features were all thoughtfully designed with input from the development community (both our internal studios and third parties) and PlayStation gamers. Our goal was to give game creators an open canvas to express their ideas, and DUALSHOCK 4 combined with DUALSHOCK 4 will help us achieve the future of gaming that we at PlayStation see ahead of us.
What do you think? What’s your favorite new feature for DUALSHOCK 4?

Twitter Shutting Down Blogging Service Starting On April 30th

Posterous, a blogging service known for its simplicity that was acquired by Twitter back in March last year, has announced that it will be shutting down its services on April 30. The company made the announcement via a blog post:

Posterous launched in 2008. Our mission was to make it easier to share photos and connect with your social networks. Since joining Twitter almost one year ago, we've been able to continue that journey, building features to help you discover and share what's happening in the world - on an even larger scale.

On April 30th, we will turn off posterous.com and our mobile apps in order to focus 100% of our efforts on Twitter. This means that as of April 30, Posterous Spaces will no longer be available either to view or to edit.

Posterous is letting users backup their data via a special page that it has set up. Users can submit request to backup individual blogs and Posterous will notify them via email when it is ready for download. Users can then go back to the same page to download the same. However, it's been almost 24 hours since we submitted a request to backup our blogs and we're still waiting for those 3 magical words: "You've got mail."

If you're looking to move your Posterous blog to some other platform, there are plenty of official as well as unofficial tools to move your data to Tumblr, WordPress, Squarespace, as well as other services.

Posterous launched as a blogging platform funded by Y Combinator back in May 2008. It became popular due to its simplicity, especially the ability to post to blog via email. It later added mobile apps, post.ly service, group sharing features and more, before it was acquired by Twitter in March 2012.

PS4: Advance Controller Prototype

Now we're less than a week since the announcement of the Sony 20 February, where Sony is expected to reveal the PlayStation 4 to the public. To increase our appetite until then, the image shows what appears to be PlayStation 4 PS4 controller linked to prototype development kit filtered. Guard appears to be a mutant.

The events that led to Sony, many reports detailing the characteristics of both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox subsequently found their way into the web. We have also seen some reports on the future of the PS Eye and Microsoft Kinect and controller of the strategy for the next Xbox. One aspect of both consoles do not get a lot of information on guard, so far. "Anonymous sources" have confirmed to several branches that yes, this is prototype. If so, what can we learn about the PS4 controller of this image?

First, it should be noted that this is supposed to be a prototype, which means that there will necessarily be constructed end. Therefore, if you can not help feeling that the guards are very deep and large, this can corrected in the final unit. The most significant aspect of the prototype is a bright blue light, and it is likely safe to assume that this is a technology that is similar to the PlayStation Move, built directly into the standard controller.

The light is very similar to that found in the Move controller as caramel. Why else stick Sony blue stripes which stands at the top of his guards? Analog Trunk finally changed from convex to concave, with a single raised ring around the outer edge, similar the trunk was found in the Wii Nunchuk controller. Controller only appears to show two side buttons - one on each side - instead of two on each side are used to, but it is likely that the two shoulder buttons placed next to the

Driver side or rear. If so, it's probably more like shooting shoulder caps standard. In the center of the controller, the start button, we see a collection of small holes, probably representing the speaker, similar to that found in the Wiimote. Is it possible that the microphone is also on guard around the area, but there is no way to know by examining picture.Lastly, the reason why the regulator seems so strange, what appears to be a touch screen has a lot of CPU. The screen is small and can be technically some types of non-touch LCD, similar to those found in high-end gaming keyboard - but with the upcoming PS Vita sports and again touch sensitivity and route Nintendo Wii U play with, it would not be surprising to see Sony able to utilize the contact area.

Given that the picture does not show the beginning or the Select button, we can only assume that the touch screen will available. Still, it is not entirely impossible that Sony just dispense with the Start and Select, and will only depends on another button to take job responsibilities to spare.

He also noted that the large beige controller unit including prototype development kits PS4 reported. As with the controllers, kits dev is not a sport sleek retail, so do not panic and declare Sony's next console curse on aesthetics game hardware always spoil the whole industry. Sony event is only five days away, so if they do announce the PS4 as expected, then surely we will see What aspects of the prototype did in the final design.
